BAIL OPTIONS AND RATES
Bail in Manatee and Sarasota County Florida is regulated by the Florida department of financial services, and Florida state statutes 648 and 903. The rate that ischarged is 10% of the bail itself or minimum $100 per charge, and is the same rate that all bail agents must charge by law, no bail agent is allowed to charge more or less than the regulated state fee. The 10% fee can be financed depending on individual circumstance. This fee is also non-refundable. By utilizing a bail bondsman, the bondsman will put up the full amount of the bail for this fee which is pledged as security for the defendant to appear at all necessary court dates. Once the bail application is completed and the 10% premium is paid, the bail bondsman will post the bond on behalf of the accused giving the jail the full amount of the bail in bond form. If the defendant fails to appear then the bond becomes forfeited. If the bond forfeits the indemnitor or person who signed for the bail bond now becomes responsible to pay the full amount of the bond.
The defendant also has the option of posting the full amount of the bail by themselves, this would be considered as a cash bond. A cash bond can be posted by anyone on behalf of the accused. The money given to pay the full amount of the bail will be held by the jail in non-interest bearing form until the entire court case is finished and disposed. This money will also be used to pay for all court case fee's if applicable before being returned to the depositor. If the defendant fails to appear the money put up will also be forfeited and the person who paid the bail in cash form now is in risk of losing this money entirely.
